
Rachel "Maggie" Whelan, MD, Ph.D.
Dr. Rachel "Maggie" Whelan was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine for the past six years and she remains the Medical Director of the UPMC Matilda Theiss Early Childhood Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. She is excited to join the wonderful team at Teneral Psychiatry three days a week! Her clinical interests include infant mental health and attachment, early childhood behavioral health, teaching, emerging treatment modalities, immigrant health, and integrated pediatrics and mental health care. A native of Pittsburgh, Dr. Whelan returned home to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as a student in the Medical Scientist Training Program. She earned a PhD in Epidemiology from the Graduate School of Public Health along with an MD. She completed the Triple Board residency program at Tulane University in New Orleans, completing residencies in pediatrics and psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. She is board certified in psychiatry and pediatrics, board eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry.
